Itinerary:

Whitney Lakes was formed more than 10,000 years ago when the glaciers retreated.
There are more than 30 km of trail system linking Whitney, Ross, Laurier and Borden Lakes that follow shorelines, pass through dense forests and over rolling hills.

We will drive to the campsite on Friday - you will be responsible for your own supper.
Saturday and Sunday will consist of easy to moderate hiking (no elevation gain), relaxing on the beach/swimming and horseshoe tournaments.

Potluck will be arranged for the Saturday night meal - you will be responsible for your own food for breakfast and lunch.

Approximate cost per person for campsite: $40/person (depends on size of group going}
A group campsite, next to the lake shore (Ross Lake), is reserved - total cost for 5 units (aka tent) is $135/night and additional units cost $10/night. Please indicate if you are bringing a tent and if you are willing to share.

Note: Group campsite includes shelter with barrel style bbq area, horeshoe pit, toilets, potable water, firewood

To get to Whitney Lakes Provincial Park, take highway 16 East and turn North on Highway 41 (past Vermillion). Then head 24 km East of Elk Point on Hwy 646.

The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $159.50 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Sunday, May 5, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
