Itinerary:
The Winter Fun series of bike rides (previously Die Hard) are meant to be fun, yet a bit challenging. Simply riding a bike in the winter is a bit of a challenge compared to summer riding but this offers an element of fun! Getting out and riding even though it may be cold, snowy, windy, slippery or any combination gives a great sense of accomplishment, almost like going against the odds and coming out on top.

BE PREPARED! Make sure you have suitable tires on your bike, and appropriate layers to keep cool enough or warm enough depending on all the possibilities nature can throw at us.
Andrew is a die-hard cyclist (or trying to convince himself he is) so this ride will go unless the temperature is below -25 Celsius.

Meet at the Victoria Park parking lot on the north side of River Valley Road at 2:00PM for a prompt departure at 2:10PM.

Route:
  • East along River Road
  • Cross the LRT Bridge, north to south
  • Cross the Walterdale Bridge, south to north
  • Push up the stairs at the Low Level Bridge and cross the bridge, north to south
  • Climb You Don't Love Me Hill
  • Cross the Dawson Bridge, south to north
  • Cross the Cloverdale Footbridge, north to south
  • Proceed past the Muttart Conservatory and a short distance up the Mill Creek Ravine, take the first off-shoot trail up into the neighborhood.
  • Climb the neighborhood streets to the top where (the closed) Scona Road meets Saskatchewan Drive
  • Take the paths along Saskatchewan Drive and cross the High Level Bridge, south to north
  • Ride down the switchback hill from Ezio Farone Park to the Glenora Club.
  • Return to Victoria Park

Please be sure that your equipment is suitable to the weather and road/path conditions. This won't be a fast ride, so beginners and slowpokes are welcome. Approximate distance: 18km.

SOCIAL! Join us at Brewsters Oliver Square at approximately 4:30pm for snacks/refreshments.  Even if you are not biking, please come join us.  We will likely be in the dinning room.  Call Andrew or Keith if you have trouble find us.
