Itinerary:
Spend your Saturday on a "double-header" east of Edmonton - visiting the Ukranian Cultural Village followed by a hike in the nearby Blackfoot area of the Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Natural Area.

If you wish to attend just one of the events, please state this in the "notes" section when you register.
If this is the case (whether attending the Ukranian Village or the hike), then please make your own arrangements for transport, separate from the carpool.

The Ukranian Cultural Village is a multi award-winning provincial historic site showcasing Ukrainian settlement in East Central Alberta (1892 – 1930).
Be a time traveler and interact with costumed role players portraying real-life Ukrainian pioneers.
Explore more than 30 historic buildings including three churches of Eastern Byzantine Rite, a fully-functioning grain elevator, blacksmith shop and burdei (sod hut).

After we have visited the Ukranian Cultural Village, we will continue the short distance south along Range Road 195, to the Blackfoot staging area.
We can hike on some of the trails on the northern part of the Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Natural Area, for up to 2 hours.
Please see the links below:

For carpooling, we will meet by the SE corner of the Bonnie Doon Mall (nearest the intersection of 83 St / 82 Ave) at 09:30am for a 09:45am departure.
For those making their own way to the Cultural Village, we will aim to meet by the ticket office for around 10:30am approx.
If you are just doing the hike, we should be at the Blackfoot staging area around 1:15-1:30pm.

To recognise me at the carpool location or at the Cultural Village or at Blackfoot staging area, I will be wearing a yellow EOC cap and driving a grey Hyundai wagon.

We will spend around 2.0 - 2.5 hours looking around the Village - however, please note that this is flexible.
If you are just meeting us at the Blackfoot Staging Area for the hike, assume we will be there around 1:15/1:30pm, but this will be confirmed on the day!.
You can contact me that morning on 780 983 9374 (cell) to confirm the likely arrival time at Blackfoot.

Please note that the Cultural Village is a fairly large site and involves a fair amount of walking around outdoors.

Also, not all paths are surfaced, so if it has been wet it may be quite muddy in parts.

For those with animal allergies, there is a farm at the Cultural Village, and as far as I know there are horses, cattle, chickens and pigs at the farm.

As these are outdoor events, the event may be postponed in the event of heavy rain / thunderstorms.
Keep an eye on the forecast and your emails on the day!.
