Itinerary:

Attention all EOC members if you are suffering from any of the following symptoms immediate action is required: Restlessness, nail biting, eye twitching and finger tapping. These are all strong indicators of cabin fever and I have just what the doctor ordered; a weekend in the heart of the rocky mountains. We will be spending two nights at the HI-Shunda Creek Hostel in Nordegg.

This will be our base for the weekend, leaving each day to pursue day hikes and or snow shoeing. We will have no formal agenda but if you have an interest in a specific area, let me know and I can try to coordinate with others having the same interest. So far I am thinking of doing easy snow shoes or hikes like Siffleur Falls (only official trail), and Crescent Falls. Snow shoes can be rented from Mountain Equipment Co-op or Totem Outfitters.

Saturday night will be a potluck supper and afterwards we could play group games, or sink in the hot-tub and share our fun stories, and watch the stars (you can see many stars out of the city). Please let me know if you have any fun games you can bring along.

Note:

  • There will possibly be a pre-trip meeting on Saturday February 25th  6:30PM in Block 1912 Cafe on Whyte Avenue to decide carpooling, potluck dishes, games, and other details. It would be great if everyone attends the meeting.
  • We will be staying in a co-ed dorm rooms. Bedding will be provided and sleeping bags are NOT permitted. There is a well equipped kitchen with appliances, pots and pans, dishes to cook your own food for the weekend. There is running water, hot showers, hot tub, bbq, and electricity in this hostel.
  • Drivers are needed to make this event happen. If you definitely can drive, please indicate how many people you can take in your vehicle in the notes section.
  • The plan is to enjoy the beautiful scenery, the great company, and the photo opportunities while having FUN so bring your cheerful personalities along.
  • This is a first-paid, first-get-on event. Payment is due immediately upon registration, or you will be moved to the waiting list. If you didn't pay and someone else on the waitlist did, they will get on before you! Any overbooking will be fully refunded.
  • Refunds after the cut off are not possible, but you can find a replacement and work out the payment amongst yourselves. The maximum number of people for this trip is 12.
