Itinerary:
Time for some more geocaching! We will try to find the "ZP's first cache", "The 6 Inch Cache", "Whey't a minute, what's that?" and if we're REALLY adventurous "Keyboards are not made for paws - CARW2008" geocaches in Hermitage Park. Bring your dog and kids. We will be mainly on the off-leash trails but bring your dog's leash for the on-leash parts. There will be some short dog drink/swim breaks along the way.

For those not familiar with geocaching, please visit Geocaching.com for more information. It is a worldwide hobby in which people hide boxes of trinkets and post their GPS coordinates for others to find. It's treasure hunting by GPS! I have a GPS so you don't need one, but if you happen to have one then go to the website, sign up, find the caches, and load up all of the coordinates you will need. Try the 'map this location' option after typing in your home postal code to find the caches around you - then just zoom out and zoom in to Hermitage Park and you'll find the caches. Double click on a cache box to get to the geocache page.

The hike involves mainly paved and gravel paths. Be prepared for a bit of mud and maybe some slippery footing. There will be some bushwhacking involved, so don't bring your best coat and be sure to wear grippy hiking boots. A hat is a good idea also for not getting your hair caught in the branches overhead. You are expected to be responsible for your dog's behaviour, so please keep your dog in check and clean up after him/her.

We will be starting from Hermitage Park Off-Leash Area parking lot and will head north along the river. At the end of the paved route, we will turn around and head back to the starting point. We will then head up the nearby ravine, which is an on-leash area.

We will meet at 1:15 pm and will leave promptly at 1:30 pm.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:We will meet at the off-leash area parking lot. From Yellowhead Hwy, take Victoria Trail north. Take your first right onto Hermitage Rd. and follow the signs to the park. Go left at the fork in the road just within the park and then take the second right to get to the parking lot for the off-leash area, which is at the north end of the park. I drive a blue SUV and have a white husky type dog. I will be wearing the yellow EOC hat.
