River Valley Ride and Bikeology Day Festival (6/19/2010)

Itinerary:
Meet at the west end of McKinnon Ravine at the corner of 148 St and Summit Dr. We'll ride down McKinnon Ravine, along side the river, then up into downtown just before the High Level Bridge. We'll partake of the Bikeology Day Festival (details below, courtesy of Edmonton Bicycle Commuters) and then return the same way for a total ride distance of about 15km.

Bikeology Day Festival
Date and Time: Saturday June 19 – 12:00 noon – 4:00pm
Location: Beaver Hills House Park, Jasper Avenue + 105 Street, Edmonton, AB
Description: The glorious Bikeology Day rolls around once again. This year the Festival in Beaver Hills Park leads to the Park(ed) event (see description below)- 102 Ave will be closed to motorized traffic with tons of activities that go through the downtown farmers’ market and lead to “Rock the Square” festival in Churchill Square. Come find out how city space can be about people and rejuvenating activities. Find us there, getting down to funky music, having solar powered cookies, pedal powered smoothies, bicycle art centred kids’ entertainment, trials riders, funky bikes, free bike check-ups, and velo-love. The Bikeology Day is all free! Bring your bike, your friends and your sunscreen for a fantastic velo party!

Park(ed)
Date and Time: June 19 – 12:00 noon- 4:00pm
Location: 102 Avenue between 100 and 104 Streets – Edmonton, AB
This year you will be able to meander through the City Centre Farmers’ Market and hook up with the new Park(ed) Festival, hosted by Active Edmonton, Walkable Edmonton and Mountain Equipment Co-op. Park(ed) gives Edmontonians the opportunity to transform urban spaces into parks and landscapes and increase their participation in an active lifestyle. MEC Bikefest
Date and Time: Saturday, June 19 – 12:00 noon – 4:00pm
Location: 102 Avenue between 100 and 104 Streets AND at Bikeology: Festival – Edmonton, AB
Join MEC’s Bikefest and learn about cycling or exchange your bikey gear at the gearswap, on the Bikeology Festival site. For more information, or to register your table for the Gearswap go to mec.ca or call 780-488-6614

Event Directions:Park on Summit Drive (just off the SE corner of 149 St and Stony Plain Rd) where we will pop onto the trail for our ride.
