Itinerary:
Lakelands Provincial Park contains a circular canoe route called by some "the Bowron of Alberta". It is a 44 km paddle in total.

We will leave Edmonton at 7:00 pm Friday May 21st, and drive to a campground near the put in at Jackson Lake Trail. (Probably Touchwood Lake Campground). The circuit begins with a 3.2 km portage (canoe carts are available), and ends with the same portage. Once done this walk though, there is a 44 km circuit of lakes with only shorter (750m) portages, from Jackson Lake to Kinnaird Lake, to Blackett Lake, and back. We will start Saturday morning with the portage. There are 26 established campsites on the route, so how far we paddle and where we end up each night is up to the group. I would estimate a paddle of about 15 km per day, and there is the possibility of wind. We will be off the water well before supper on Monday, and return to Edmonton.

I am willing to pair up people in the canoes, but each PAIR is responsible for arriving with a canoe and all necessary paddling gear, a stove, and their own food.

Please note that only the first and longest portage has canoe carts, for the 750 m portage, you are going to have to carry EVERYTHING you bring!

This trip is weather dependent, but spring is early and the May long weekend is late, so hopefully we will have good paddling conditions.

To come on this trip you must be a reasonably experienced backcountry camper, and must have enough paddling experience to paddle 15 km a day into the wind, as that may happen. The coordinator reserves the right to remove any one from this trip if I feel your lack of experience is a safety issue for the group.

Required Items to Bring:
canoe (1 per 2 people)
paddles, life jackets, bailer, ropes, whistles, throw bag (as required by law)
