Thanks to a sudden burst of Arctic temperatures that were expected to produce windchills in the -40 neighbourhood, I decided to shift the date of this event from the 15th to the 16th of December, and effectively merged our group with the group participating in the Bright Nights X-Country Skiing Part 2 event. The weather conditions on Tuesday night turned out to be quite reasonable for skiing - not exactly balmy, but not absolutely frigid. The tracks for skiing in Emily Murphy and Hawrelak parks were a bit on the rough side, however.
There were 11 of us who cross-country skied. Most of us were on our cross-country skis for the first time this year, and I'm sure that the first outing will only leave us hungry for more skiing.
