Write Up:
The Siffleur Falls trail was closed for a few weeks due to recent rains having washed out a bridge along the trail, which led to a last minute change of plans to hiking the Allstones Lake trail. The Allstones Lake trail is quite an uphill climb --- about 600 m elevation gain in the first 3 km, before a descent down to the lake --- but views of Abraham Lake and the surrounding mountains are spectacular on the way up.

On the plus side, Allstones Lake is an excellent place to camp at. A number of other groups had made the trek up, but campsites for the different groups were nicely spaced apart. (The Alberta government has also installed pit toilets, and a limited number of bear poles).

On Sunday morning, we hiked up to Allstones Ridge on the way out, for even more spectacular vistas of the region. It took about 1-1.5 hrs to trek back down to the trailhead (faster than the way in, since essentially all downhill).

At Karen's suggestion, the group stopped at Siffleur Falls afterwards, where the group went on a short day hike along the shoreline of the North Saskatchewan River (I believe the hike is referred to as the "Heritage Trail".
