Thankfully no attacks from ravenous bears coming out of hibernation or from attack pine weasels (Pine Martens) jumping from trees on top of us lol. We actually saw a Pine Marten climbing in a tree right in front of us on the Goldeye lake trail. At first it startled me because I was blazing the trail and I was the first to see it. Much to my relief it wasn’t a bear cub. It was pretty cute and it was peeking its little head around the tree as we all stood there and took pictures. We saw lots of other different wildlife, mountains and hiked down to a couple different frozen waterfalls; Crescent Falls and Cline River/Coral Canyon where we saw a couple of groups ice climbing. Weather was really warm with lots of sun. The hot tub after was a bonus. I waited until after our potluck Saturday night and I went out and soaked under the stars. I forgot how many stars you can see outside of the city (beautiful). Good times had by all especially the potluck and games Saturday night. Thanks to the Christian high school outdoor leadership group that was also staying there for letting us use their rental equipment. Many of us scaled the hostels ice climbing wall for free with help and advice from the teachers. Kudos to everyone who tried ice climbing for the first time.
