Itinerary:

**NOTE: Please read all details in red below and event details including all COVID-19 group precautions before signing up! All activities are being offered in full compliance with current provincial and federal COVID standards (see links below for more info). We will be hiking in staggered groups of four abreast (box shape with 6 feet or more apart). At times we will need to be distanced while in single file and step off the trail or pathway briefly to let others pass safely.

**We will be enforcing social distancing throughout the hike. Anyone who is not acting in accordance with COVID safety requirements will be warned once. If non- compliance continues, they will be asked to leave the activity!

**Please note:
- I am only going to have 8 people max including myself on this event.
- This will be a moderately paced walk of ~4.5km/hr.
- This event will be weather dependent, please check the EOC calendar and your email for any updates.

About this walk: ~8-9km, ~2 hours including a 15- 20 minute lunch/snack break
Come and explore the scenic trails at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area, west of Edmonton. There are four interlinking trails - Indian Ridge, Natures Way, Woodland Lookout, and Cranberry Corner Trails for a total of ~11km. The terrain is mainly gently rolling hills, but there are a few steeper sections too, for a bit of a workout. There are picnic tables and outhouses along the trails. Click on the links for more info: Parkland County Webpage and Chickakoo Trail Map.

OPTIONAL HIKE AFTER:
I’ve never hiked at Marl Pond Trail, which is a 15 minute drive east of Chickakoo Lake, east of Spruce Grove on the south side of Highway 16.
About the trail: The scenic 1.5 kilometre Marl Pond Trail takes the visitor through a variety of the habitats in Wagner Natural Area, including successional meadow, willow swamp, aspen parkland, black spruce forest, white spruce forest and, of course, the marl ponds themselves.
