Itinerary:
I've found an amazing new area to hike in the SW, which includes the Whitemud Creek Ravine along the Jagare Ridge Community!

This week we will start the snowshoe hike near the "rainbow falls", and proceed to hike along the top of the Whitemud Creek Ravine South of Ellerslie Road. There is a surprise waiting for us as we venture into well traveled forest trails, and wide open tracked snow tundras. We might even find new trails past a small walking bridge. We will then loop back through Jagare Ridge back to our cars.

Please ensure you bring ice cleats, and wear breathable snow pants (or even better gaiters) because there will be some deep snow sections to cross. If you wish, bring a light pair of snowshoes in your backpack to put on for snow sections.

If you bring a dog along please ensure that your pet is well behaved in a group, capable of a strenuous hike, and on a leash at all times.

Afterwards we could go to Brown's Social House for a drink, or even better Mark's Social House for a drink and snack nearby :)

Required Items to Bring:
- Appropriate clothes and waterproof boots for Winter hiking
- Ice cleats for traction/and or snowshoes (not cheap ones, try MEC or Totem)
- Water
- Headlamp, or flashlight
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
- Gaiters, or breathable snow pants to keep snow out of your boots
-Snowshoes in a backpack (deep snow sections)
-Hiking poles are always a hikers best friend (if you don't have a dog)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Park at the end of Hays Ridge Dr SW, Edmonton, South of Ellerslie Road in the Jagare Ridge Community West of Graydon Hills, and near Rose Hill Cemetery (just South of the Cemetery) on 141 St SW. Just past the "rainbow falls" (you'll see them) turn right on Hays Ridge Drive and drive to the end of that road where we will park (if you pass the Shell station you've gone too far). See the map below:
