Itinerary:
The plan is to assemble at the visitor information centre at 9:45 a.m., just off hwy 16, the centre is located just prior to the pay entry gate on the north side of hwy 16. Look for my silver Land Rover. Also I will be wearing the customary yellow EOC Ball cap. I will not be organizing a car pool for this event. Participants may however, arrange car pooling amongst themselves.

From the information centre, we will drive into the park. (Bring your CANADA PARK PASS if you have one or $$7.80 for a day pass) We shall ready our bikes at the Oster / Shirley Lake Picnic Area and set out at 10:15 sharp. From there it is an easy trail ride out to the road commencing a road ride all the way up to the Astotin Lake picnic area. My Garmin pegs it at 25 - 30km round trip, elevation gain of 161m, loss 136m with an average moving speed of 15 kmh. Depending on the group and energy, we may make a detour along the way. We plan on having a snack break at our turn around point at the Astotin Lake picnic area. The road portion is not flat but the hills are rather easy with varied terrain and quite an enjoyable view along the way.

Please dress accordingly for the weather, bring clothes / layers that will keep you warm on your bike should it be a little cool or windy. After all it is early spring in Alberta. Note: regarding ability: I am an average cyclist. I go about 15- 20km/hour and could hit 30km/hour plus with the wind downhill wheeeeeeeee.

Also, I ask that this not be your bike's first ride for the year. Please make sure your bike is ride ready and that it has been out at least once and it is in good working condition after a long winter. This event is suitable for hybrid bikes and mountain bikes only.
