Itinerary:
Please note: as this event is obviously weather-dependent, it may have to be cancelled on short notice.

Join me at the University of Alberta's FABservatory, located on the rooftop of the Fine Arts Building. The observatory, run by the U of A Department of Physics, houses a 12" telescope. It is open to the public every Thursday evening, and we might have a chance to see the Moon, Venus, Saturn, the Orion nebula and/or many different star clusters and binary star systems or other celestial wonders.

The observatory is only open until 8 PM. We can warm up afterwards at the Hudson's Campus location (111 St. at 87th Ave. - only steps away from the Fine Arts Building)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:The Fine Arts Building is located along 112 St., just north of 87th Avenue (immediately south of HUB Mall and the campus LRT station). A map of the campus (and photo of the FAB building) is available here; note that the building is labeled as "90" on the map.

To access the roof:
  • Enter the FAB building through the main entrance (on the side facing 112 St.)
  • Climb the stairs to the second floor. Turn right until you see the Dept. of Music display cabinet, then turn left until you reach another stairwell. (Don't worry - there should be signs posted to help us!)
  • Walk up two flights of stairs until you reach the door to the roof.
