Itinerary:
The Silver Skate Festival is the longest running winter festival in Edmonton, running this year from February 6-16th. The Silver Skate Festival offers something for everyone: a winter triathlon, long blade skate races, snow sculptures, musical performances and fire sculptures.

We will meet near the skating area near the heated bathrooms at 5:30 pm.

We will tour around the festival. *See note below about optional skating after the fire sculpture burning event.
Actors will be animating the trail with two fables from 5pm-8pm. Join in a Silver Skate tradition by writing out a fear or a wish and leaving it in the basket in the Lantern Making Tent to have it added to the nightly Fire Sculpture Burn (also a great opportunity to warm up). This spellbinding spectacle of light serves as a grand finale to the Silver Skate Folk Trail story. Artists were asked to consider and reflect on the following statement to inspire their builds:
“In our quest through life we all occasionally face a battle with darkness. Sometimes we become lost in the dark. Am I good enough? Can I conquer my fear of failure? This journey from darkness to light asks how we can regain our voice, to sing once again.”

We will join the procession to the BURN which leaves the Lantern Making tent at 7:30 on burn nights. The procession travels across the whole festival site in a captivating spectacle of light.

The procession is accompanied by the wonderful Vagabond Drummers (including Della Letnes, Kirsten Oates, and Anne Vimtrup) plus guests.

*Join us for the BURN at 7:45pm on the day of each build to celebrate renewal and the release of thoughts that make us sad or any fear or regret that chases love from our hearts.
