****Please be aware that conditions could be mixed at this time of the year - Event will take place rain or shine. In the event of trail closures an alternative hike will be selected.

Distance: 11.3km return

At 6:00am we will meet and depart at from Tim Hortons (9830-34 Ave, Edmonton). Carpool arrangements will be decided before hand, please indicate if you prefer to be passenger or driver. Payments for gas/carpooling should be $60 each. The passengers will provide the coordinator with their carpool amount to cover cost of gas and car maintenance and the coordinator will distribute it to the carpool drivers. Please bring your own lunch and snacks or, if you wish, at 9:45am we will be stopping at Beamer's Coffee Bar in Canmore (300 Old Canmore Rd #129) for a 30 minute planned break. At 11:00 our hike begins at the Johnson Canyon trailhead and should be approximately 4 hours return depending on conditions, snacking time, and taking advantage of many picturesque vistas including the Lower Falls, Upper Falls and Ink Pots along the way. At 3-4pm after the exhilarating hike, we may wish to share a meal in Canmore before returning to Edmonton. This will be determined by the group.

NOTE THE PLANNED HIKE MAY CHANGE DEPENDING ON WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $255.20 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Friday, August 1, 2025). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
