Itinerary:
I am looking at doing a short after work hike in Elk Island. I have never done this trail before and would like to check it out. We will hike the Beaver Pond Trail (3.5km) at Elk Island National Park. This should be about an hour or so. Here is a direct description taken from the Parks Canada website, "Trappers had completely eliminated beaver from the park area by the mid 1800s. Park staff successfully re-introduced them in the park in the 1940s. This trail is characterized by evidence of beaver activity near the trailhead. Lodges that are overgrown with vegetation are abandoned. The open aspen forest and sedge meadows along this trail are ideal for birdwatching in summer and observing large mammals grazing in winter."

Please note we will be going rain or shine. Also, I am coming in from the east so unfortuneatly I will not be organizing a car pool for this event, however, participants are more than welcome to contact each other to arrange rides etc.
