Please note: as this event is obviously weather-dependent, it may have to be cancelled on short notice. Please keep an eye on your e-mail - especially if the sky is cloudy on that day!

Join me at the University of Alberta's FABservatory, located on the rooftop of the Fine Arts Building. The observatory, run by the U of A Department of Physics, houses a 12" telescope. It is open to the public every Thursday evening, and we might have a chance to see the Moon, Venus, Saturn, the Orion nebula and/or many different star clusters and binary star systems or other celestial wonders.

The observatory is only open until 9 PM. We can warm up afterwards at the Hudson's Campus location (111 St. at 87th Ave. - only steps away from the Fine Arts Building)

How to Get There:

The Fine Arts Building is located along 112 St., just north of 87th Avenue (immediately south of HUB Mall and the campus LRT station). A map of the campus (and photo of the FAB building) is available here; note that the building is labeled as "90" on the map.

To access the roof:

Enter the FAB building through the main entrance (on the side facing 112 St.)

Climb the stairs to the second floor. Turn right until you see the Dept. of Music display cabinet, then turn left until you reach another stairwell. (Don't worry - there should be signs posted to help us!)

Walk up two flights of stairs until you reach the door to the roof.
