PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a beginners hike - please have some previous experience.
This week we will head west of Edmonton to Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area. The trails are a series of loops - we will mostly be hiking on the intermediate to advanced trails - there will be LOTS of steeps hills along the way. The distance will be about 10km. Click here for a map of the trails.

We will meet up at 10:00am in the west end & hopefully start the hike around 11:00am for those of you who wish to meet us at the Chickakoo parking lot & not participate in the carpool.

How to Get There:

West on Highway 16 from Edmonton, turn north onto Highway #779 (Range Road #10) at the road sign.
Follow the signs to Chickakoo - left at Twp 534, right at RR 13, left to stay on RR 13 & then right at Chickakoo.

The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $23.20 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Friday, April 19, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
