Itinerary:
The HI-Lake Louise Alpine Centre is a superior grade hostel located at Lake Louise. On-site amenities include gorgeous common areas, two self- serve kitchens, a full service restaurant (Bill Peyto's) and free Wi- Fi (full linen is included, sleeping bags not allowed). We will go down Friday night (approx. 5 hour drive) and return on Sunday. Rooms will be shared. Price includes both nights' accommodation only.

ACTIVITIES:

Skiing/Snowboarding: Lift passes are not included in the price of this event. Several hills are accessible from Lake Louise (eg: Lake Louise, Sunshine, Norquay, Kicking Horse). The hostel does sell lift passes for Lake Louise. Alternatively, you can usually get discounted lift tickets at local ski shops. It is your own responsibility to arrange equipment, lift passes and ride to the hill. Because of long line-ups, it is highly recommended that you get tickets and equipment rentals before arrival at the hill.

Bryan will be heading to Sunshine for at least one day during the trip. Let him know if you want to join him.

Ryan is planning to cross-country ski during the weekend.

For more info on local skiing see: Lake Louise Ski Resort or Sunshine Ski Resort or Norquay Ski Area

XC-Skiing/Snowshoeing: There are beautiful trails to XC ski on in Lake Louise and the surrounding areas, and groups will be going out. You do not need to sign up for this in advance. You are responsible for your own equipment. Snowshoes and ice skates are also available for rent at the hostel.

For more information on X-country or snowshowing see: Parks Canada Site

Ice skating: The Lake in front of the Chateau Lake Louise is transformed into an incredible ice skating palace every winter. Enjoy the public skating rink or bring your hockey stick for a pick-up game on the hockey rink.

Other: The nearby area also offers dog sledding, sleigh rides, hotsprings, ice climbing, caving, ice canyon tours, shopping and many more activities to do.

For more information see: Things to do or contact the hostel

While this event is only for the accommodations, feel free to suggest what you might be interested in doing and the coordinators will try to find others to go with you or at least information to help.

Carpool note: with the uncertainty of winter road conditions, it is recommended that members arrange their own rides with someone they know and can rely on. We will of course help arrange carpool for those that need it, but please note that refunds will not be given if a carpool arrangement falls through. And as with any carpool event, non-driving members may be bumped for driving members on the waitlist if we do not have enough drivers.

Carpool payment: for those that do want the EOC to arrange carpool for you, we have a new communal payment system. Please DO NOT PAY YOUR DRIVER en route. Passengers will pay me at the hostel and I will distribute the money to the carpool drivers evenly. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!!

Roommate note: We will be split between various rooms by the hostel. We will try to get full rooms, but it is likely that some of us will be in rooms with guests not from the EOC. If you want to share a room with someone specific, please let us know so we can attempt to get you together.
