Itinerary:
Edmonton’s Candy Cane Lane is visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors every Christmas season and it has become a tradition for Edmontonians to flock to this west-end Christmas Light and Decoration display every year. The sights and sounds of Candy Cane Lane instill the spirit of Christmas in all of us. The colourful light displays and unique decorations bring out the magic of the season in young and old alike. Christmas in Edmonton is not complete without a walk down Candy Cane lane.

Candy Cane lane was started over 35 years ago by a small group of residents in Crestwood Community. As with most things it started off small with a few houses putting up some impressive light displays. The spirit spread to other residents up and down 148 street from 100 avenue to 92 avenue where today more that 10 city blocks are now officially considered being on the lane. It is all done on a volunteer basis and there is no commercial or municipal sponsorship of any kind. Over the past few seasons another group of residents on the lane thought that with so many visitors coming to enjoy the sights it might be an idea to give the visitors an opportunity to show their Christmas spirit and ask them to bring non perishable food items to drop off for the Edmonton Food Bank. This has proven to be a raging success and tens of thousands of pounds of food has been collected for this worthy cause. If you plan to visit this year please remember to bring something to help out the less fortunate in our community. This year the lane officially opens Saturday December 13 and lights up at 7:00 to around midnight until January 2.

We will meet at the Starbucks located at the Jasper Gates strip mall(14957 Stony Plain Rd NW) at 7:00PM sharp so that we can start meandering down 148 street at 7:15PM (the residents of the neighbourhood don’t turn their lights on until usually 7ish – the extra 15 minutes will ensure that we get to see as many lit displays as possible!). We’ll walk from 99 down to 92 Ave, and back around on the other side of the street so we can see everything.

**NOTE: It is undetermined whether there will be much available parking close to the event. It is strongly suggested that you arrive early to find street parking in a nearby neighbourhood or arrange to take public transit. This event has excellent attendance, so ensure that you schedule enough time to find parking and to arrive on time.
