Itinerary:
We will be celebrating harvest season on this road trip to Wetaskiwin and Lacombe for the Reynolds Museum Harvest Festival and the famous Lacombe Corn Maze!

Itinerary: Our first stop is at the Reynolds Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin.

From the website: The smells are sweet and the noise is big at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum's Harvest Festival in Wetaskiwin this August 30 and 31, 2008. See more than 40 pieces of vintage agricultural machinery in action, check out the bread-baking demonstrations which happen each day, all day long and learn how to bake everything from focaccia bread to bagels to cinnamon buns! There’ll be plenty of free samples – made even better when spread with the butter you’ve made yourself. Before you head home, don't forget to pick up some fresh-baked bread or other goodies from the Farmer's Market.

After the Harvest Festival, we will head south to Lacombe to navigate the annual corn maze! This year, the Lacombe corn maze has partnered with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank and their quest to end world hunger. And with our spectacular growing season this year, the corn is 7+ ft. this year! Way more than enough to get lost in.

We will aim to be at the Harvest Festival in Wetaskiwin between 4PM and 6PM. We can have dinner break at the Festival or on the road and be at the Lacombe Corn Maze around 7PM.

It is encouraged that you arrange your own carpool. If you participate in the central carpool, you are agreeing to pay/receive the reimbursements calculated by your coordinator, which includes gas and maintenance costs and do not vary with the number of passengers. If you participate in central carpool, DO NOT pay your driver enroute, as the cost will be calculated upon arrival.

I have set up a thread on the EOC Forums to discuss this event. Great for questions, arranging carpools, and dinner suggestions!

Required Items to Bring:
Money for admissions: $9 for the Reynolds Alberta Museum and $9 for the Lacombe Corn Maze.

Money for carpool if you are participating in central carpool.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Money for food/drinks/souvenirs.

Cooler if you want to bring back purchases from the Harvest Festival farmer's market.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:There is significant construction in south Edmonton so be sure to take this into account.

The Reynolds Alberta Museum is located 2km west of Wetaskiwin. The easiest way to get there is to take HWY 2A South from Leduc. The drive is approximately 50 mins. from Edmonton to Wetaskiwin.

The Lacombe Corn Maze is 4.8km west of Lacombe. The best way from Wetaskiwin is to get onto HWY 2 and go south. Then go 1.6km west of the Hwy 2 overpass on Hwy 12, then 0.8km south on Range Road 27-3, Exit #422B. Watch for the signs! The drive is approximately 1 hour from Wetaskiwin to Lacombe.

Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):250Km
Carpool Departure Time: 3:00 PM
Carpool Location:   Log in for location
Carpool Directions:   Log in for directions
Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $72.50 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Monday, April 29, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
