Itinerary:

Come and explore the scenic trails at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area, west of Edmonton. There are four interlinking trails - Indian Ridge, Natures Way, Woodland Lookout, and Cranberry Corner Trails for a total of ~14km. The terrain is mainly gently rolling hills, but there are a few steeper sections too, for a bit of a workout. There are picnic tables and outhouses along the trails.

For the carpool, meet at the overflow parking lot north of the West Edmonton Mall at 9:30 AM, for a 9:45 AM departure. To recognize me, I will be wearing a yellow EOC cap and standing next to a silver Toyota Rav4.

We will begin the hike itself around 10:30-10:45 AM, if you wish to meet us at the Chickakoo parking lot and not participate in the carpool. ***Please make sure you let me know this in advance when you register.***

West on Highway 16 from Edmonton, turn north onto Highway 779 (Range Road 10) at the road sign. Follow the signs to Chickakoo or turn left at TWP 534, right at RR 13, left to stay on RR 13 and then right at Chickakoo.

The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $23.20 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Thursday, April 18, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
