Itinerary:

This event consists of two separate concurrent classes at Virtically Inclined Rock Gym (VIRG). Please read carefully for which class you should join. You must indicate your choice in the notes section when you sign up.

Course A: Getting Into It

The Getting Into It course at Vertically Inclined Rock Gym is for the beginner who's interested in climbing. This course is identical to the one offered on Feb 9, 2007. If you attended that one, it is recommended you take the Intermediate Skills Clinic instead.

In this 3-hour course VIRG instructors will teach you the basics of top rope climbing and provide you with all the necessary skills to perform the belay check. Passing the belay check is required to be able to come back into the gym and climb (top-rope) independently, either at future EOC events, or on your own.

All the equipment necessary to get you scaling the groovy sculpted walls at VIRG is provided. Also included with the course fee are vouchers for a free return night, a complimentary belay check, and two 25% discount visits.

Course B: Intermediate Skills Clinic

This Intermediate Skills Clinic has been specfically arranged for our group. It is meant for people who have taken the Getting Into It course and are interested in additional skills and movements on the wall. While extensive practice and experience is not needed, it is highly recommended that you have your belay check done before this event. While most of it will be done at bouldering height, the last section will involve some application to top-rope heights. Remember, if you took the Getting Into It class at VIRG, you were given a coupon for a free belay check. If you are experienced and would like to take this course anyway, or if you need someone to do your check with you, please contact me.

If you are new to the sport, it is recommended you take the Getting Into It course instead.

In this 3-hour course VIRG instructors will cover:
Frog Position
Basic position (feet turned out, straight arms, bent knees)
    Triangles in Frog Position
    Weight transfer in Frog
Footwork
    Quiet feet
    Identifying Edges
    Matching
Routes and Sequences
Def'n, locating, route info, how to follow
Hands
    Types of grips and holds
    Hold orientations

All the equipment necessary to get you scaling the groovy sculpted walls at VIRG is provided.
