Itinerary:
What is a Half-And-Half? A half- and-half is a hike in which we park in the middle of the route and do an out-and-back one way, then an out-and- back the other way. Attendees can do just the first half if they wish, or they can stay for the whole thing (both halves). The first "half" will be slower paced and easier, and the second "half" will be a little faster and more steady for those who want a little more of a workout. NEITHER HALF WILL BE A TUFF- PUFF OR AT A SPEED DEMON PACE - THE FIRST HALF WILL BE SLOWEST-POKE AND SECOND HALF WILL BE JUST SLOWPOKE.

We will meet at 6:15 and leave on our walk at 6:30 PM sharp to make the best of available daylight hours. If you are bringing guests, including children, be sure to bring waivers along for all of them. These will be required for your guests to attend the event. If you have any questions about this, please contact the coordinator well in advance of the event.

First Half: Follow the path east towards Capilano Park for a half hour, then return the same way. This will be at an easy/slow pace.
Second Half: Follow the path west for a half hour, then return the same way. I am not familiar with the path in this direction, so am open to requests/suggestions. Perhaps we'll cross the bridge at Rowland Road and walk along the south bank of the river. This will be at a more steady pace for those who want a little more of a work-out.

Backpacker Training: This event will be great backpack training for anyone who just wants to get out and walk around with their heavily-laden backpack on. If you wish to do that, I recommend building up the weight in your pack through the weeks. For example, your first week you might want to carry 20 pounds. Your second week carry 25, and so on, until you reach your maximum weight (the general recommendation is no more than about 1/3 your total body weight).
