Itinerary:

Hosted by Mountain Equipment Co-op, Paddlefest is an urban celebration of canoeing and kayaking. The day will feature learning opportunities on and off the water. Paddlers of all skill levels are welcome. The event runs from 11-3; you may choose to stay for the entire duration, or only for part of the day. For more information, please see MEC's Paddlefest page.

We will meet at 10:45 AM outside the front doors of the Aquatic and Recreation Centre (ACT) facility in Rundle Park. We will be leaving the ACT centre doors at 11. Please contact me by cellphone if you are running late. A schedule for all of the workshops is available from MEC .

Sandie and I are registered to attend the 2 PM tandem canoeing workshop. In general, the workshops are a really awesome deal: instructors will teach us how to improve our canoeing/kayaking skills on the water, and for a cost of only $5 per workshop! You will need to also register for Paddlefest with MEC, and pre-register and pay for the workshops as you sign up. There are a limited number of spots available for the workshops, so make sure you register ASAP once MEC's Paddlefest registration has opened. Please visit MEC's Paddlefest page to register.

In addition to the workshops, there will also be free opportunities throughout the day to attempt paddling MEC's demo canoes/kayaks on the water, as well as a paddling gear swap. Representatives from several paddling clubs in the city will also be available who will provide more information about their organizations to those interested in finding out more.

Recommended Items to Bring:

- PFD (only IF you own your own PFD which you would like to bring along. MEC will otherwise provide enough PFDs for everyone participating in activities on the water)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:The Rundle Park Paddling Centre is located in Rundle Park in east Edmonton. Access to Rundle Park is available via 29th Street and 113th Avenue or by 118th Avenue and Abbotsfield Road. There is ample parking just west of the Aquatic and Recreation Centre (ACT) Pool. Our group will meet outside the front doors of the ACT facility. I will be wearing a yellow baseball cap with the EOC logo on its front.
