Itinerary:
Leave Big Bear Park and descend into the ravine, and follow the trail beside the Blackmud Creek, winding our way until we pass under the Anthony Henday bridge, and travel a bit further until we are in the Blackburn area where we will connect with the neighbourhood gravel pathway, and finally end up at the Ellerslie Gift and Garden. We will stay there about 20-30 minutes.

They have washrooms there and a little cafe, and lots of nice decorations and plants to look at. We will return via some sidewalks in the Blackburn area and re-connect to the trail back to the cars.

Total distance is about 8 kms. There will probably be some slippery muddy or icy sections, and some little hills to negotiate. The pace will be moderate.

If the weather is awful (below -20 C or very windy/stormy), this event will be cancelled.

If the trail is very slippery, muddy, slushy or icy, we will do a walk in the community instead of the trail hike, lasting less than 2 hours with a possible cafe stop.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From 23 Av, go south on 109 St for 1 km until you see a park on the right side (note there is another park before this, don't stop there). Continue on south another 0.5 km as the road starts to curve east, and turn right at the first street. This is still 109 St.. Park on your right side (west side) beside the park. If you didn't turn right, you would be going east on 11 Av (wrong way!). Look for my red Hyundai car.
