Geocaching and Hike in Mill Creek Ravine (9/10/2006)

Itinerary:
Come for a nice hike along the gravel paths in Mill Creek Ravine and try to find hidden treasure in the woods!
We will use a GPS (global positioning system) unit to find 2 or 3 geocaches stashed in the bushes near the trail.
These are small stashes containing dollar store trinkets and a log book to log your visit.
PLEASE NOTE: There is some bushwacking involved and possibly some slippery footing, so wear good hiking boots, long pants and bring a long sleeved shirt to protect yourself from scratches.
Bring the dog too, as most of the hike is in the off leash area.
We can go for a coffee after at the Blue Chair Cafe - (9624 76th Ave).
We'll meet in the field at 73rd Ave and 91st St. and people can park on 91st St.
Nearest bus stops are #2335 and #2247, which are a few blocks west and can be reached by buses 81 and 87.
Shirley will be wearing a black baseball cap that says Canadian Helicopters.

Required Items to Bring:
Long Pants
Hiking Boots
Long Sleeved Shirt
Water
bags to pick up after dog if you bring one
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
a GPS
Small dollar store goodies to trade with items in the geocaches especially items that are blue for the "I Suspect Mrs. Peacock" cache.
Ziploc bags for items that are not waterproof.
Money for food and beverages afterward.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:To get to the meeting area: if you are on Whyte Ave., turn south on 99th St. Turn left on 73rd Ave. and follow it all the way to end. We will be in the field in front of you.
From Whitemud, head north on 99th and turn right on 73rd Ave. There is parking on 91st St.
Nearest bus stops are #2335 and #2247, which are a few blocks west and can be reached by buses 81 and 87.
