Despite a chilly start to the day and the constant threat of rain, 16 of us did a nice 10 km hike through the trails of the Chickakoo recreation area north of Stony Plain. The trees were starting to show their fall colours, and the misty air made for some softer views.
Most people came dressed for the weather, and while it was a bit chilly, we kept warm by tramping around at a fairly good pace. The rain held off, and we even chose to add a couple of extra sections of trail in the second half of the hike.
Because of a bit of light drizzle overnight, the paths were damp but not soaked. Our feet got a bit muddy, but it wasn't slippery enough to slow us down - the entire hike took two hours, at an average speed of 5 km/hr.
